What if I need to create a simple 3D logo or 3D text in just a few minutes?
Are you going to recommend me Photoshop or another huge graphic tool?
Do I need to read documentation and follow tutorials for hours?
No way! There is a solution that will make everyone's life easier, and that's Vue d'Esprit!
Let me show you the steps, it's fast and easy:

First of all, create a text picture in any painting program (Windows Paint is good enough for such a job).
Open Paint and select Attributes under Image menu, set width and height to at least 256x256 and press the OK button.
In the Left Toolbar press A, make a rectangle and type your word. After typing, you need to invert the colors (just press Ctrl+I).
You should now have something like this:

You can use any type of font and antialiasing you'd like.
Save your file as 3dlogo.bmp. By default, Paint will suggest 24-bit bitmap (*.bmp) - let's go with that.
Ok, now we have an image (3dlogo.bmp), we have an application (Vue d'Esprit) and we have a big desire to make something incredible!

Open Vue d'Esprit, press Ctrl+N and select an atmosphere.
Let it be "Orbit" from the Volumetric collection.
Right click on the Terrain button and select "Terrain in Editor" .
The New Terrain Options window appears. Uncheck Generate fractal terrain and be sure the Terrain width and height is 256x256.

Press OK and the Terrain Editor window opens. Find the Picture button in the left toolbar and click it.
In the Import Terrain Data window press the Load button and select the logo picture we just created (3dlogo.bmp), then press OK.

At the bottom of the Terrain Editor find the Clip slider and drag it a bit to the right, until the black background has disappeared (it helps us see our word better).
Hold down your right mouse button over the terrain and drag a bit to check what the word looks like in the free view.
You should have something like this:

Press OK.
In the Main View you can resize, rotate and move your terrain as you want.
Press Ctrl+M and in the Material window go to the Metals collection and select Chrome. Press OK.
In the World Browser select the Ground (by clicking once on it), press Ctrl+M, and then select a suitable material.

Paths in the Sand from the Rocks collection will be fine.
We are now ready to render the scene!
Click the Render button and you got yourself a nice logo!
Don't be afraid to experiment, it helps you learn, and it's fun!

Here you'll find a complete scene (zip file 50 Kb).
