After the tutorial about sea foam, I got a few questions by e-mail about shores, sea foam, and a triangular ship's wake.
Well, in this tutorial I will try to show you how easily you can create a ship's wake.
If you didn't read the 'How to create sea foam' and 'Using sea foam' tutorials, I'd recommend you read them before starting this tutorial.
You can download the "sea foam material" right here.

The little ship I am using in this tutorial I have downloaded at http://www.3dcafe.com , (here is the direct link: http://www.3dcafe.com/models/osa2.zip 3DS 140Kb Mannuele Villa (Military ship).

Let's begin.
Create a new scene and select the 'Edimburgh' atmosphere from the 'Bad weather' collection. Load the boat and place it somewhere in front of the main camera. Delete the 'Ground' in the 'World Browser' and add water to your scene.
Create a Sphere, then stretch and squash it as shown in my picture below.

Rotate the 'Sphere' a little bit in the 'Front view'.
Below, you can see the spot where you need to place your sphere in the scene and another picture that shows you what you'll get if you try to render.

That's it!
As you can see, the technique is pretty simple and you can quickly achieve good results.
For a more realistic wake, you can use any other primitives, combine these primitives together, and get a really nice and realistic result.
In the picture below, you can see another picture of the same wake after adding spheres and cones. The scene contains nine sea foam spheres.
